The best time to visit Preikestolen in Norway is from the months of May to October. The reason for this is that lots of tour guides, cruises and accommodations are available during this season. To get there take the ferry from Stavanger to Tau. From Tau, there is a bus that will take you to the parking area called Preikestolhytta. It is good to go early in the morning to catch the first ferry and avoid the influx of people going up the Preikestolen and it is wise to hike with a buddy or a group especially if you are not a strong hiker as boulders can be wet and steep at the same time. The weather can be unpredictable so bring light rain gear and extra dry clothes to prevent yourself from getting hypothermic. Not everyone is a hiker, accept your limitations and forego the hike if you feel too scared about the heights and too tired to go up slippery boulders because there is not much to cling on and this is the only way to get up at the Preikestolen. Your safety is much more important than anything else. Moreover, don't push or hurry people who are slow, some people don't really know what to expect and get surprised when they see what they have to climb to get to Preikestolen. The trail to the ledge is well-marked and you may bring camping gear if you want to spend the night on it. Finally, once you get to Preikestolen, take a moment to marvel at the beauty of the place and ever so slowly and carefully, walk or crawl to the edge and take a peek down at Preikestolen in Norway.
